How does the process work from start to finish?
| Step 1. | Pre-Engagement Data Collection: Before we have our first meeting, a copy of your utility bills for each account will need to be acquired by you to have present for the Initial Client Meeting. |
| Step 2. | Initial Client Meeting: Either in person or via web/teleconference, one of Edison’s qualified account managers will meet with you to go over the details of the Net Profit Service Suite and the Service Agreement itself. You are free to ask as many questions as you would like, verify assumptions and get to know your Account Manager and the process by which we are able decrease you utility costs and increase your net profit. |
| Step 3. | Off Site Study and Review: With the service agreement, 1 copy of your utility bills for each account and a signed authorization letter the savings process begins. The authorization letter is pre-drafted and let’s Edison review copy of your account consumption and billing history. Your company file will begin and your utility bills and authorization will be given to one of our utility analysts to begin the search for better charges and prices to decrease the amount you are charged for utilities going forward and returned overcharges to you. |
| Step 4. | Findings and Recommendation Report: As soon as your account histories have been reviewed for savings, an Edison team member will contact you with one of two scenarios. ¹ Clean Study: You will be notified that the study and review turned out clean. If there is anything to keep your eye on, the team member will let you know at this time. ² They will set up an appointment for a 30 minute web/teleconference to go over the findings of the study and recommendations for implementation with you. The team member will explain the amount of savings you can expect to receive and will get to you any forms or documents needed to implement the savings that same day. |
|
This process takes 4 weeks to complete. Time can vary based on the number of accounts and locations being reviewed and the speed at which the utility company sends out the necessary account history information. |
|
| Step 5. | Waiting on Savings implementation and Refunds: Once the utility company has the information necessary to implement the findings on your behalf, it typically takes 1-2 billing cycles to see rate changes and charges taken off. Refunds typically take between 1-3 months. |

Since the year 2000 Edison has found that over 65% of the companies, just like yours, that we have worked with, have been overcharged on their utilities in the 3 years leading up to the study or were on a more costly rate than after the study. Edison’s Utility Overcharge Study and Rate Review will:

Concrete/Aggregate Company: Refund $78,000; Yearly savings $48,000
We completed an exhaustive audit of a Ready Mix Concrete Producer’s 14 plants. By the end we had found savings for all plants but two. At one of the plants we checked, our analysts noticed a metering error from their water provider. The metering error was overcharging them over $2000 each month. We pointed out the error to the utility company. They returned over $30,000 to our client in past overcharges and reduced their ongoing bills by approximately $24,000 per year.
Safe Company: Yearly Savings $35,550.00
When a safe manufacturer client moved locations, they moved into a completely new utility district. Unfortunately for them, they were not familiar with the new rates. They had operated on a high rate schedule for nearly 5 years by the time we became acquainted with them and found their opportunity for utility cost reduction. Because of the efficiencies of their load factor on both gas and power, they were eligible for less expensive pricing. We made the changes. They operate as normal, but spend $35,000 less per year, moving that amount straight to their net profit.
Timber Company: Refund $4,000.00
A timber company in Wyoming spotted a variance in their utility bills. They called the utility company to get an explanation but were getting nowhere. They contracted with us on a hand shake (not our standard practice) that if we could get them a refund they would split it with us. Our analysts noted the variance with the Utility company representative. They went over the customer’s business activities, consumption history and possible reasons for the variance. The utility company agreed that the variance was a likely meter miss read and credited back the customer the additional amount.
Refinery: Refund $7,550.00
A chemical refinery client of ours had an exclusive agreement with their gas provider. After reviewing the agreement and doing a bill audit, our analysts discovered that they were being overcharged as result of a surcharge that the provider should have removed from the contract price, yet because of human oversight, it had never been removed. We obtained a refund for them of the overcharged amount.
As you’ve probably noticed, none of these companies required capital outlay to save money. We get refunds regularly for clients that have utility bills ranging from $4000/month and up. Give us a shot. If there are overcharges or errors on your utility bills, we will find them. If we find everything is in order, there is no fee of any kind to have this analysis done.

What does this service cost me and when do I pay?
As with all of our services, the fee for your Utility Overcharge Study and Rate Review is based on our success in reducing your utility costs. This ensures you that our fees will never outweigh the benefits and net profit increase that you receive. For our part, we take a risk, but we are confident in the knowledge our team possesses and our ability to implement this knowledge for your benefit. This gives us incentive to perform on your behalf.
Sometimes an audit is performed and we find that the consumption and billing history is clean and free of any errors or discrepancies. When a review returns clean, there is no fee, upfront or otherwise. We take this risk and put it on ourselves.
In the likely scenario (2 to 1 odds) that we find a refund or ongoing savings the fee schedule is as follows.
